Oracle DBA
(Mid-Level)

The title for this exempt level position is Oracle DBA. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week
position. Regular work hours are 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Monday through Friday. As an experienced Oracle DBA the
successful candidate will be aware that late night
and/or weekend work may be required as database
administration duties require. This position is
primarily an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
providing consultative services on behalf of Intersect
Consulting, Inc.’s to its highly demanding database and
web clients.

This position requires a minimum of 4-6 years of
practical, hands-on experience in the Information
Systems industry with progressively increasing
responsibilities. At least 4 of those years should have
current direct hands-on experience in the configuration
and administration of multiple ORACLE 8i / 9i / 10g databases
in a development and production environment. Supported database sizes
should be a minimum of 20 – 30 GB or greater. Database
support of web-based applications is required.
Demonstrated skills and experience in developing complex
SQL and PL/SQL for high performance database
environments such as custom e-Commerce and Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) systems is essential. The
ideal candidate will, at a minimum, have experience in
Oracle database installation and custom configuration on
Sun Solaris and/or Linux and/or Windows Server
2000/2003; be experienced in performing hot backups,
recovery, cloning, SQL tuning / analysis; identifying
contention issues and other database performance related
issues.
Experience in the configuration and management of hot
standby databases, snapshot replication, as well as
configuration and use of Oracle Enterprise Manager is
essential. Experience with Oracle Intermedia is a
plus.
Experience with administration of SQL Server 2000 is a
plus.
A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or comparable
degree is required. A Masters Degree in Computer Science
or comparable or continuing post-graduate education is a
plus. Oracle Certification is also a plus.

The successful candidate will, at a minimum, possess
Oracle database administration skills in the areas
outlined above. Familiarity with web server environments
such as IIS and Apache is highly desired. The
successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of
the Windows 2000/2003 Server operating systems, its
facilities, services and components including the
development of command files for the automatic execution
of job processes. A working knowledge of Sun Solaris
and/or HP-UX and/or Linux with experience in writing
shell scripts is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are
required. Demonstrated organization and planning skills
are essential.
Experience with MS Office tools including MS Word,
Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required. Familiarity
with MS Project and/or Visio is desired but not
essential.

This is a customer-facing consulting position. Duties
will include providing consultative guidance,
implementation and administration of Oracle databases
and custom applications for Intersect Consulting’s
clients. Duties will include but not be limited to the
best practice installation and configuration of Oracle,
establishing best practice backup and recovery
procedures, configuring and maintaining replication,
user and group roles, security administration, proactive
monitoring and support and problem resolution. As a
consultant, this position may require on-site client
support of systems and therefore may occasionally
involve local travel. This is primarily an in-house
support position, however.
